Troy Daniel Smith

Troy Daniel Smith, age 75 of Fort Payne, Al, a man whose journey was marked by love, faith, hard work, and devotion to family left this earth for his new home on November 10, 2025. He was born July 5, 1950, to Lloyd and Jewell (Pell) Smith in Fort Payne, Al. He is survived by his wife, Vickie Ellen Smith and 2 daughters, Theresa Dalton &; Chris and Angela Scott &; husband Terry, Grandchildren: Logan Payne, Skylar Scott, Ashlynn Wooten &; husband Stacey, Brooklynn Payne, Mikaila Sutton &; husband Ben, &; Seth Dalton. Great-Grandchildren: Willow, Arianna, GracieMae, Luca, and Novah. Mr. Smith is also survived by his brothers Raymond Smith, and Jerry Smith (Elizabeth) and a host of nieces and nephews and bonus family members: Caleb Smith and Fausto Aragon. Troy was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Jewell Smith, Brother Berlon Travis Smith, and Sister-In-Law Kim Smith. Troy graduated from Plainview High School in 1968. Soon after, he moved to Harvey, Illinois in search of work. While he found employment, he discovered something far greater—the love of his life, Vickie. Their union was the beginning of a beautiful story, one that spanned 56 years of marriage filled with devotion, laughter, and unwavering companionship. On September 15, 1974, Troy received the Holy Ghost and became a faithful member of Old Sardis Holiness Church. From that moment forward, he lived in service to Jesus, using his voice to sing praises and his heart to encourage and uplift his church family. He was a steadfast friend to the younger brothers, always offering words of wisdom and encouragement. Troy was a man of many talents and interests. He and Vickie operated a poultry and cattle farm together. He was also a welder before embarking on his longest career with LADDS Environmental Consultants. His work was marked by passion and meticulous attention to detail. Yet, of all his careers, retirement was his favorite. He embraced it fully, spending his days hunting, fishing, gardening, and most importantly, cherishing time with his family. Troy was a family man cherished by his wife and adored by his two daughters, six grandchildren, and five greatgrandchildren, who saw in him the very embodiment of hard work, endurance, and determination. His love, guidance, and example will continue to shape their lives for generations to come. Troy’s legacy is one of faith, love, and perseverance. He leaves behind not only memories but also the skills, talents, and values he instilled in those around him. Though he will be deeply missed, his impact will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at 12noon from Old Sardis Holiness Church with Bro. McCoy Wooten & Pastor Raymond Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Wesley's Chapel Cemetery with Rainsville Funeral Home, Inc. directing, www.rainsvillefuneralhome.com. Mr. Smith's family will receive friends at Rainsville Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 12th from 2pm-8pm & on Thursday, November 13th from 10am-11:30am.
