Shelba Coleman Sharp

Shelba Jean Sharp, age 79 of Sylvania Alabama, Passed away at home of natural causes on April 8th, 2026. Born as Shelba Jean Coleman, she entered the world on May 20th 1946. Born at home to parents George and Leona Coleman, She was raised alongside five brothers and one sister. Shelba attended Sylvania High School where she was a member of the marching band as a majorette and also played the clarinet. During her time at Sylvania High School, she met Bentley Sharp and fell in love with him. Shortly after graduating high school on her 18th birthday, they married on June 12th, 1964. They were married for 61 years. Shortly after their marriage, Bentley was drafted into the army and Shelba followed. They picked up and moved to Lawton, Oklahoma. Shelba worked on base as a clerk while Bentley served our country in the Mail Room. During this time, they took many adventures, made memories and truly enjoyed their life together. Once they returned to Alabama, they had two children together. Patra and Tanya, who were the lights of their life. They raised their children in church, at Unity Baptist Missionary Church in Henagar, AL where Shelba was a lifelong member and long time piano player. Throughout the years, Shelba worked at Sears, Renfro and Thomas and Son Furniture. Shelba had five grandchildren whom she adored. She supported their every endeavor and enjoyed doing any activity with them. She loved watching all of their sports games, band events, dance recitals and everything else in between. Her grandchildren loved spending time at her house, going on trips and attending her church. An avid lover of all things home and garden, and the work it took to upkeep it all. She loved to clean, cook, garden- especially with her husband Bentley. Not to forget her love for shopping, everyone that knows Shelba has probably been shopping with her or talked to her about it. She had a very close relationship with her sister. Ruth and Shelba were always together regardless of the reason. In the later years, Shelba cared for Ruth at the later stages of her Alzheimer's. Shelba Sharp will be missed by all that knew her. Remembered by all for how wonderful she was in her life. A strong reminder she used to tell her grandchildren about her favorite song; “For the God on the mountain is still God in the valley.” She loved the lord and served him faithfully during her life, and hoped to help others do the same. In lieu of Flowers, any donations can be made to The Melissa George Neonatal Memorial Fund at Huntsville Hospital Foundation. The family ask in honor of Shelba to please wear pink, bright colors or any fun designs. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 1PM in Rainsville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Donnie Johnston & Rev. Roger Graham officiating. Burial will follow in Unity Cemetery with Rainsville Funeral Home, Inc., directing www.rainsvillefuneralhome.com Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 11th from 11AM-1PM.
