Jo Ann Goggans Myers

Jo Ann Myers passed away Thursday, May 8 at 2:00 pm. She is preceded in death by her husband Jackie Myers, and her parents Joseph (Jody) and Chloe Goggans. She is survived by her two daughters Sheri Myers Siniard and Suzanne Myers Hunt (Harold) and her five grandchildren, Kyle Siniard (Tori), Kevin Siniard (Paige), Haley Harbour (Hank), Will Hunt (Mayson), and Caitlyn Dickie (Jacob). She adored her eight great-grandchildren, Amelia Juan, James Siniard, Hunter Harbour,Ty Siniard, Hollan Harbour, Trace Dickie, Charlotte Hunt and Elizabeth Dickie. She is also survived by her two sisters-in-laws, Gloria Wright and Margaret Myers as well as her cousin Linda Collins who was like her sister. She dearly loved her nieces, Stacey Mackey, Allison Foster, Andrea Wright and Jennifer Dean and all of their children. Jo Ann was born May 24, 1936 and grew up in Geraldine Alabama with her parents and six aunts and one uncle who provided lots of love and lots of family get togethers. She graduated from Geraldine High School in 1954 as Salutatorian of her class. A wonderful couple awarded her a scholarship along with her best friend to attend Holy Name of Jesus Hospital school of nursing where she graduated in 1957. She used her degree to live a life of service as a public health nurse for Dekalb County for almost 30 years. She met her husband Jackie during a senior high school dance and they married on November 3, 1957. They shared a wonderful life together raising their two daughters and being an integral part of the Collinsville community, especially within the Baptist church. Her life was a testament to her faith and she served in Sunday School and was always a part of the committee to provide meals for various occasions within the church. She had a green thumb, loved beautiful flowers and could keep poinsettias alive for years. She enjoyed pictures of her family beyond measure and was always waiting for shutterfly envelopes in the mail. She loved to bake and eat desserts. Her specialty and the family favorite was pecan pie. She was a devoted wife, best of all possible mothers, loving aunt, great friend to many and a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother. Services will be Monday, May 12th at Collinsville Baptist Church with visitation at 2:00 pm and funeral at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Collinsville Baptist Church would be appreciated.
